We spent last weekend in CT for the lovely occasion of Sierra's Baby Naming. On August 26th with lots of family and friends Sierra recieved her Hebrew name :) We had the most amazing weekend! It was double the fun because we all finally got to meet Dani! She is just so super cute @ 2 weeks old...and about the same size as Sierra who is 9 weeks old!!
We were even visited by some apparitions.
We had a great time on our last day at OBX bodyboarding and then going our with the crew for one last hurrah before the 8 hour slog back home :)

Sierra and I woke up at 5:40am to go out to the beach and watch the sun come up over the water. It was a bit cloudy & quite windy...but Sierra's first sunrise was a smash success!
The other day the whole vacation gang went over to the Wright Brothers National Memorial to learn about thier wacky heavier-than-air, powered flying experiments. Pretty cool stuff! Afterwards we rocked over to the Weeping Radish for some good all-natural German food :)

It's day 3 of our first family vacation! We're having the most incredible time down in the Outer Banks with some great friends! Imagine MTV's "Real World"...with 30 somethings :) We totally keep it real.
It's pretty sweet, of the 5 couples three of us have infants. By now I'm sure the other two couples are either dreaming about the pitter-patter of little feet...or doubling up on birth control ;)
We spent about 4 hours at the beach yesterday with Sierra...she loved it! We dipped her feet in the water and let her kick a bit in the sand. She really got into it :)

Geno & KC are moving up to Vermont at the end of the month. They are super awesome friends and we will miss having them nearby dearly. On the flip side, we've got a new snowboarding vacation spot already scoped out ;)
Liz & Jarriel hosted a fun, frolicking bon voyage party for them!
Two weeks ago a good portion of the local family got together to celebrate Grandma Shelli's birthday! She's 21 again...YAY!

We had a terrific weekend visiting the Grandparents Rossman. We also visited Matt & Suzy where we enjoyed a delightful meal including fried turkey. YUM!

Yesterday we had lots of fun taking Sierra and Scout to one of the many lovely dog parks in the area. Taking pictures there, amongst all the chaos, gave me the idea to pose Sierra in the big chair as a life-like replica of her very own action figure.
In a stunning break from all-Sierra, all-the-time, below is a picture of a budding flower in our front yard. I'll post the final bloom as I'm sure you won't want to miss it!
How time flies! To mark Sierra's achievement of reaching OneMonthOld status, we held a BBQ in her honor. BBQ Ribs, burgers, chicken, and pasta salad were all consumed by the TheBigPeople who care for and nurture ThePinkOne. ThePinkOne mostly slept in her swing, subtly mocking the revelers around her. Then "Uncle" Andrew held her, and there was much rejoicing :)
As a bonus, I've included some precious pictures of Scout and Sierra enjoying some time together last Sunday afternoon.
Tonight was finally the night. After 3 weeks of sponge baths we decided to go for broke and bust out the sink mounted baby bath. What a difference! It turned bathtime from a squirmy-wormy don't drop the baby challenge into a pleasant, soothing, cleansing experience. Fun was had by all!
This past weekend we had a fun time visiting the Grandparents Rossman! Then it was off to Frederick to see our good little buddy Eli's baptism.
Today is our 3rd Wedding Anniversary! We've had 3 spectacular years together and have been blessed in so many ways, most recently with the birth of our super cute daughter Sierra Faith! We're looking forward to many, MANY more years of marital bliss!!

Today Uncle Howie and I took Sierra to her very first July 4th fireworks! We tried to stay pretty far back (i.e. the deluxe and elegant Giant parking lot) so that we could see them & hear them but avoid the concussive feeling you get in your chest (which I love...). Despite the fact that Sierra will stir and make cute little wookie noises when I tiptoe past her at 3am, she slept well throughout the fireworks display. Except when held aloft for photo ops :)
We also had fun daytime visits from Uncle Steve and Aunt Debbie & Brian and Nicole!
We spent Friday night and all day Saturday at Grandma & Grandpa Rossman's house. Imagine our surprise when after we played "pass the baby", Grandma Shelli brought out a childrens rocking chair that she had painted just for Sierra! As you can see from the photos it's beautiful! Inspired by the color scheme for Sierra's room and painted with love and artistry we are thrilled to have it as a family treasure :)

Melissa went off to book club tonight for a couple hours and left Sierra home with me, Uncle Howie, and the ever vigilant Scout.
We enjoyed some grilling and then hunkered down for a movie. Fun was had by all!
Happy first week on the planet Sierra! In honor of her first week of life we took a series of contiguous naps and then a quick photo shoot of, you guessed it, nap time!

We've only been home a couple days now, but already we are enjoying lots of family and friends coming to see our new bundle of loud joy!
Sierra had a great first doctors appointment, everything is perfectly healthy and we're good to go :)
Imagine our surprise to arrive home today from our first pediatrician visit to find a giant stork greeting us! Thanks so much Chris & Emily!!
Today was quite the homecoming for little Sierra! After being checked out one last time at the hospital, she enjoyed her first car ride on our way home. We were met at the door by Scout, who just adores Sierra! Lots of sniffing and licking ensued before Scout led the way inside for her new little pack member :)
We spent the afternoon with everyone just decompressing and getting used to the new environment.
It's been a fun-filled 48 hours since our beautiful baby daughter was born! Here are some pictures of friends and family who dropped by the hospital yesterday.

Melissa and I are pleased to announce that Simply arrived in this
beautiful world on June 20th, 2006 at 3:59pm weighing 5lbs. 5oz. and shall henceforth be known as Sierra Faith Rossman.
Mom, baby, and dad are doing just fine! Melissa and I can't wait to
introduce our new bundle of joy to each and every one of you!!

It has been a busy couple weeks getting ready to have the baby, so we're a little behind on posting updates and pics. Imagine our surprise when we went to the sonogram doctor on Thursday and he recommended that we induce Melissa this coming week! Simply is about 5lbs. 8oz, which given the size of her parents isn't too bad, but compared to the national average is on the small side. Go figure.
Our OB concurred, so we were voluntold for an OB appt. early Friday morning. After a quick exam and then checking her schedule the doctor essentially said "So, does Tuesday work for you?". With that, we were given a prescription to arrive at the hospital around midnight Monday, 6/19 and we expect to have a bouncing baby girl sometime on Tuesday, 6/20!!!!
Since the next post will of course be of Simply's arrival, this post will cram in a bunch of things that have happened over the last several weeks :)
